"I use DeepSeek to verify facts, obtain references, or search for information every hour. DeepSeek has become my everyday AI tool," says Jeffrey Sachs, a renowned American economist and professor at Columbia University. He praises the DeepSeek app developed by a Chinese company, particularly admiring its logical analysis feature, which clearly demonstrates the reasoning process behind its responses, leaving a strong impression.
Sachs notes that the rise of DeepSeek illustrates that no country has a monopoly on technology. "No country can claim to control another’s 'chokehold'," he said. He adds that in the past, the U.S. often believes it could maintain permanent hegemony through technological monopolies. While the U.S. has positioned itself as a leader in AI and large language models, DeepSeek has broken through with a low-cost open-source model, making AI technology more accessible and breaking the monopoly held by giants like Microsoft and OpenAI.
